I believe that many people in Santiago know that we have a big problem with the environmental contamination. But no all the people do something for reducing it.
One important factor is the bad education about the issue. In Chile there were a lot of campaigns, support the reduction of the contamination, it's not enough for making the people understand the effects of the environmental contamination can to do us. I think that to must create conscience with the topic since the school, like policy, not like suggestion.
My habits of recycling aren't a lot, but I think that my little effort helps to the cause. For example, I reuse paper sheets that I used any time, and I make news notepads, instead buy other notepad. Or, I use only one notebook all year for my university classes, instead buy a lot of notebooks and use a little sheets in each one.
Actually I'm not using a bike, cause I still not repaired any troubleshoots that have it. But I wait to do it soon. In addition, I live so further than my university or my girlfriend's home, and for time reasons, it's not handy go to these places in bike. I will delay a lot. It will be nice exercise, but I can't do it everyday, in this moment I can't believe my physical condition be able to do it. I have a car, but I prefer to use public transport, and use the car only if be urgent.
I don't support any eco-organisation for time reasons, but I think that its work is good. My cooperation reducing the carbon footprint can be my preference for walk more than before, use the water carefully, or carrying more people in my car when I have to go out any place. I know that it's not too much, but its a little help.
In our city, intensive policies are missing to control the use of the trash, and make the people know the importance of the correct use of the trash, in function of the care of environment.

I also think that the education is the issue. All the campaigns won't work at all if the school don't start teaching things like recycling but as a part of our lives.
